Modern vehicle ABS braking is subject to considerable stress in normal use and requires frequent inspection and routine maintenance. At Cavendish we are able to offer a complete solution offering Leading OEM brands such as Bosch, TRW, Girling, Pagid, Delphi we also offer a value range for the older vehicle to suit every need and budget.
If you experience brake judder, squealing when the brakes are applied, longer than normal stopping distances, an abnormally soft or hard brake pedal, ABS lights, a fluid leak or anything which does not feel right get it checked immediately.
Common Brake Problems we see include:
- Worn out brake linings
- Corroded or worn discs
- Loose handbrakes
- Pulling to one side or brake imbalance
- Sticking calipers or pads
All of these items are easily rectified and we will be happy to provide a written estimate. We will routinely check the brake condition as part of a normal car service but will be happy to check your brakes at any time if you suspect a problem.
During a brake service we also clean excess brake dust off the braking system and ensure callipers’ and slides are free and operating correctly. If necessary we would advise replacement parts or stripping and servicing the moving parts to ensured continued safe operation.
We also test and carry out brake fluid changes as part of our service schedules. Most manufacturers recommend to have your brake fluid changed every 2 years regardless of the vehicles age. This helps to ensure optimum performance and maintains the correct function of the Antilock Braking Systems (ABS) and Electronic Stability Programme (ESP).
